Crossing cultures is a dynamic, complex process where context is everything. A list of behaviors or a script can only take you so far, for what is a “do” in one set of circumstances might very well be a “don’t” in another.
This series on intercultural communication will help you function outside the script to understand the values and beliefs behind behavior and, ultimately, how others think. Cross-cultural training involves not only learning about the place you’ve come to but comparing it to what you’ve come from-to the assumptions and values that have shaped you.
We will be examining the behaviors and values of people from the United States in relation to those of people from Ukraine. Bring yourself and your curiosity!
