In 2022-2023, over 1,000 individual books were banned by various libraries and schools across the United States. Overwhelmingly these stories are by and about POC and queer individuals. Why are these books being banned, and why is book banning still prevalent in the 21st century? In this speaking club, we will discuss freedom of expression and speech, as well as the nefarious comeback of book-banning.
